Italian smartphone app MovieReading is bringing the full cinema experience to the visually impaired by syncing subtitle descriptions with your smartphone.
Visually impaired cinema-goers can now get the full cinema experience thanks to MovieReading a new Italian smartphone app that adds audio descriptions to films between dialogue. The app ‘listens’ to the sound in the cinema and automatically displays the descriptions on a smartphone or via headphones. The result is a fully immersive cinematic experience.
The MovieReading app database is currently only available for a catalogue of Italian films, however following a recent trial run by Perth based company Demand.Film this will extend the use of the technology to many other titles in the future.
To get started with MovieReading, users download the app on the app store, register their device and go-through a quick compatibility test on their website. Once downloaded, during the cinema session users just open the app and away they go.
